Mission Accountable Day 42: An easy treadmill run

Today was an easy 30 minutes on the treadmill, about three miles. I say “about” because somewhere around the eight minute mark, I hit the “ifit” button instead of the “fan” button and the treadmill totally reset and started from zero. I don’t even know what this “ifit” business is. I’ve never used it. Not on purpose anyway. This was not my first time accidentally pressing the button, unfortunately. I don’t know why it gets on my nerves so badly to have to start over but it does. When I’m done, I don’t want to see 22 minutes on the console, when the total is really 30 minutes and the other eight happened to occur before I accidentally hit the wrong button.

I’m not the only one in the house who has been using the treadmill lately… Dan pounded out a couple of miles last night. A couple of days before that he remarked on how awesome it was to take Sweet Pea out in the BOB stroller… It took a while but I finally put it together. He is “training” to beat me at our next 5k. My training looks like 30-40 miles of running per week, week after week, with track workouts, long runs, tempo runs, and time spent just thinking about running. Dan’s training is running a mile or two about three to four times over the month prior to the race. It makes me even madder than when I accidentally mess up the treadmill but he always wins. Hopefully this year will be different.

Either way, I really hope Sweet Pea ends up with my drive and Dan’s talent. If the opposite turns out to be true she will be a lazy couch potato.
