Big News: Listen to Your Mother Comes to Boulder!

Big news here, BIG NEWS. Yes, this is my second blog post in one day (You must be thinking What does this mostly stay at home mom do all day, just, like, eat bon bons and blog?). But the blogging is not the big news…

Remember when I submitted my application to bring the Listen to Your Mother Show to Boulder? Well, it was accepted! So I did a little happy dance, shared the news with Dan and my mom, roped a friend into helping (Joelle, you’re the best!), and confirmed that yes, I am on board to organize this AMAZING event!  So now you’re like, Are you going to have time to eat bon bons if you’re doing this show? And what is it anyway? Glad you asked.

Listen To Your Mother (LTYM) is a national series of live readings
by local writers in celebration of Mother’s Day.

This Mother’s Day season, motherhood will take center stage in 24 cities across the nation. That’s right, 24 cities! So even if you don’t live in Boulder, chances are there is a show near you! (There is even one in Providence!). In addition to giving people the chance to come together over stories of motherhood, a portion of the proceeds goes to charity.

In the words of the event’s creator, Ann Imig:

Listen To Your Mother began as a Mother’s Day celebration and has grown into a national platform for creative self-expression, for community building (online and off), and for the celebration of mothers, daughters, and sons everywhere.  Listen To Your Mother features live readings by local writers on the beauty, the beast, and the barely-rested of motherhood, in celebration of Mother’s Day.

Check out some of the videos of Listen To Your Mother shows from years past on the Listen To Your Mother You Tube Channel. I dare you not to laugh. I double dog dare you not to cry.
